The Storytelling Club

A storytelling event held on the last Wednesday of every month at the critically acclaimed Old Police Station Bar and Restaurant on Harrogate Road in Leeds. Its aim is to introduce new audiences to storytelling as a living, vibrant artform in an informal setting where anyone can try their hand at telling.

The philosophy of the events is one of collaboration, where heckling and participation are encouraged as storytelling is a communal art form where the teller and audience work together to suspend their disbelief, for a brief while, to enjoy being immersed in a world of fantasy.

As well as telling traditional tales from around the globe in my performances, I blend, bend, steal and invent stories to blur the lines between reality and fantasy, creating an urban gothic world of where giant eagles roost on tower blocks, goblins emerge from the sewers at night and ancient, unholy horrors lurk in the attic. These stories inject a sense of wonder and mystery into the mundane, help us to appreciate the magical aspects of the world around us (aren't rainbows brilliant!) and allow us to inhabit our own mythic landscapes.
